How To Use AI Without Losing The Human Touch with Human Potential Advocate Stephanie Sylvestre

April 24, 2026

AI is moving fast, and if you’ve ever felt that knot in your stomach about what it means for your work, your identity, or the future, you’re not alone. I sit down with Stephanie Sylvestre from AvatarBuddy to explore a different angle: human-centered AI built with faith, curiosity, and boundaries that protect what makes us human.

We talk about what it looks like to run a startup when the pressure is real and the path is unclear, and why Stephanie says unwavering faith and a daily prayer routine can turn weeks of “wrestling” into faster clarity and better decisions. From there, we get practical about ethical AI and productivity: breaking a job into tasks, using AI agents to remove the bottleneck tasks that drain energy, and keeping a human in the loop instead of handing full autonomy to tools that still need supervision.

Stephanie also shares a powerful real-world project with the Ministry of Education in Belize, where an AI “archivist” helps preserve history and supports languages like Creole and Mayan. We dig into digital mentors and digital twins, how they can extend coaching and encouragement at scale, and why strategy and discernment matter more than paying someone for AI-generated output.

If you care about responsible AI, faith and technology, digital coaching, and using AI without losing your soul, this conversation will stretch your thinking. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s skeptical about AI, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

If you’ve ever struggled with fear, doubt, or worry and wondering what your true purpose was all about, then this podcast is for you. In this show, your host, Sylvia Warsham, will interview elite experts and ordinary people that have created extraordinary lives. So here’s your host, Sylvia Warsham.

I’ve still got a lot of fun left.

Hey Lightbringers, it’s Sylvia Warsham. Welcome to Release.reve Purpose. And today is Stephanie Sylvester. She is all into AI. And you know that is the advent of the future. And most of us misunderstand AI. We don’t really like the advent of AI because it’s kind of taking over some of our human um aspects, you know, like writing to give perspective on bus sprout. When I when I position this podcast interview, um, I’ve actually bought the AI package and it’s going to help me translate or transcript this interview into the description. It saves me time because then I can devote my time to what I do best, which is to interview guests like Stephanie that will come on the show. I can bring their essence, I can bring who what their mission is in this world to the light. And if there’s a question, if there’s a prayer out there that you’ve been praying and God has listened to it, He makes this divine calling best. And that’s what he did with Stephanie and I. Because when I read her biography, I myself was curious to understand AI best, and she brings a human aspect to it. And I thought that was so cool. One of the other things that drew me to Stephanie was her curiosity. See, curiosity is an interesting thing in the coaching environment. And when you stay curious, you stay open to the opportunities as they present themselves. Because when you close your mind and you close your heart to these opportunities, this is the problem. This is where why we stay stuck in certain circumstances longer than we should, right? So without further ado, Stephanie, thank you so much for joining us.

Thank you. Thank you for having me. I love, love how you’re set in the intention for this conversation. Uh, it’s just so moving because you know, in corporate America, they always tell us to shy away from um talking about God. And um I think the the company that I love working for the most, we embraced that, and I thought this is this is a great, great place. So I am looking forward to having this conversation and leaning into my fate and and sharing how that has really helped me in this journey as I um evolved.

Yeah, the we never give him enough credit. We always give him when things hit the roof, then he hears from us. But we he never hears from us. Well, I shouldn’t say never, because we’re not all like this, right? I thank him continuously for the gifts he gives me daily, because you see, he gives us gifts every day, but we’re so busy doing. We’re so busy doing, we forget to embody the fruit of the spirit, which is the love, the peace, the joy. You know, AI has helped me give me back more of my time because otherwise I’d be spending time, you know, writing these descriptions, yes, that then I can take what they bring to me and then add a little twist, add my own, you know, flavor to the description because this is me identifying with what’s written on there, right? But do tell us how it has evolved. You did how did your faith help you evolve into the where you’re the purpose that you’re living out currently?

Well, running a startup is not for the faint of heart. Um, you need to have unwavering faith. And I I found that um once they started developing a daily prayer prayer routine, things started to kick in place. You know, it’s you have this problem and you’re wrestling with it, you’re wrestling with it, you’re wrestling with it, and I’d be like weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks of wrestling with it, and I’d be like, I lift this up to you. That’s all I say. And then boom, I was like, why did I torture myself for weeks? And so it’s gotten closer and closer, and so I still torture myself for a few hours because I mean I don’t want it to be a crutch. I and some things I just you know need a little bit of time and I I can get the answer. But the other piece of it is um being able to go through what you have to go through in order to be to the other side of success, and reminding yourself that uh two things. One is God won’t give you a burden heavier than you can carry, and so once you ground your fate in that, then it’s just about how what is it that I’m supposed to learn from this adversity? Because until I learn it, I will not be able to move from it. And so then you it puts you in a different space, and then the other piece of it is um every disappointment is for the better. That’s what my mom used to tell me when I was growing up. And in 23 and 24, I noticed she kept saying that. I was like, wow, I was just failing like there’s nobody’s business. But it’s it’s again, right? It’s the way to another way to reframe that is to say um what you were trying to do was not what you were to do. And once you figure out what it is you’re supposed to do, it just flows. And now things flow. Things absolutely flow. Once once I understood what is it that I’m trying to convey to the world, um, we got an intern ten hours a week. She we went from no podcast presence to five podcasts a week the last six, eight months, done an incredible job in giving us brand presence. And you might say, How do I know this? Because we’re looking to hire another intern for a different position. And this intern says to I say to the intern, why avatar buddy? And she says, Well, I don’t like AI, I think it’s bad. But my teacher says I need to learn it. And I looked up your company, and your company were was about people, and so I decided I would apply. And what that said to me was my message in is working. If a teenager can understand that we’re a company that’s about people, and as we see AI evolve in ways that they promised us it wouldn’t, um being able to stay with AI is about amplifying people, helping them be the best version of themselves, having helping them reach that level of self-love so that they radiate that love onto the world. I am validated that my position is the right one. And I would not have gotten here if I wasn’t walking in fate because I will tell you, got lots of advice, lots of pressure to do something else. And I said, No, I’m gonna do it this way. And I’ll say one more thing um before I stop, is that because of my fate, I always approach people with positive intent. I always think you’re the best person. My friends are like, Stephanie, like, why are you walking around the world like everybody’s nice? I’m like, Yeah, because they all are everyone is inherently nice. Yeah, it’s just how many layers do you have to go through to get to that niceness? And if I walk around assuming and and operating as if they’re nice, some of those layers will automatically burn off themselves, so I don’t even have to go through it. And you can go around the world thinking that everybody’s nice if you believe that God will protect you.

You said so many good things that I could totally relate to. I love the story with the teenager because that that’s amazing. Because the one thing we think of when we think of AI is not, it’s machine-driven, not human-driven, right? And I love that you’re wanting for people to shine their light. I don’t know if you heard me say at the beginning of the podcast, hey, light bringers, we’re all made of light. We have him inside of us, he is light, and it says it all over scripture. God is light, he comes to us in the darkest of times, and he’s the light we follow out of that darkness. And I find that your story is really intriguing to me. It really is intriguing in how curious and how you approach human beings of the last thing you said, that you think of them as all being nice. And you know it’s interesting that you said that because as I was walking my dog early this morning, I turned and saw a neighbor of mine walking, and I thought the same thing. I was gonna reach out there and say, Good morning, you know, like I see the goodness now in people. The more I step into my faith, the more I see the goodness, I see his fruit of the spirit. So I see more love, I see more joy, I see more peace, I see a way to be a peacemaker, not a peacekeeper, which is what some of us misinterpret based on the lens we’re seeing things through, right? So if our lens is seeing it as, well, I’m just keeping the peace or I’m just giving in, well, yeah, that’s how you’re gonna receive information coming back to you, right? Because it’s it’s it’s how we’re projecting out into the world. And and AI, I think, is it’s gotten some bad reputation in recent years because it has replaced human jobs, as that’s how people have interpreted this thing, right? So I really was curious to know, um, Stephanie, if you can guide us on how it is a human company, and even though it’s AI. Can you help us break this up for us?

So the first thing that we do is um we are asking uh, what problem are you trying to solve? And then we’re thinking about it from a job, right? So a job is a combination of different tasks. So there are different things that you do in order to get your job done. All of those are tasks. If you focus on just the tasks that does not bring you joy, the task that’s tedious and drains energy. Those are the tasks we’re dealing with. We call those the bottleneck tasks because those are the tasks we procrastinate, we try to shift push onto others. Okay, so if we do that, now you now have time to focus on the task that you’re good at, the task that brings you joy, the task that makes you feel good about yourself, the task that makes you want to just spread amazing love around the world. Um, and so then if we that makes people feel good about themselves. So our approach is fix the things that make people not feel good about themselves so they can go feel do things that they feel good about themselves. And then we configure the AI to always have a human in the loop. We’re anti automation of AI, the solution is not mature enough. It’s I I tell people it’s like giving a 15-year-old intern very smart, very, very, very, very smart. We we know lots of 15-year-olds that are very, very, very smart. But would you put that 15-year-old in front of your most precious client customer without any supervision? No. I wouldn’t exactly so so so why would you why why would you why would you um uh give the AI full autonomy at the same way? And and and the the thing is is that AI is is w we can do so much good in the world by just using AI that is able to the AI that came out in October 2005 is is it’s way more powerful than we can even finish exploiting it. So why do we need to bring out more and more powerful AI when we can’t even exploit the powerful stuff that we already have? To what end? And and so we we we continue to say if we do things that improve, it’s about humans, then we get to a place where we’re not um where we’re not undermining the middle management, we’re not undermining mid-level workers, which by extension means we’re not undermining the middle class. Without the middle class, we do not have a function in democracy. Just gonna leave that there. We’re not gonna get into politics, but I agree, by the way.

I’ve seen that in other countries, and it’s the the here’s a faith-based concept. So bring not that faith and politics next, but here’s he doesn’t like extremes. So it’s neither to have two too rich, too poor, that’s extremes. We need what’s the middle ground, what’s balance, and that’s what God aims for. There’s if you think about it, the presence, like when you take it, let’s let’s give a different perspective for the listeners. From the coaching perspective, because I’m a certified life coach with the John Maxwell team. When your mind wants to go to the what-ifs, we’re going to the future, right? We’re going to the extreme of a situation where it wants to stay, keep us stuck in the past, right? What is what is the balanced presence? How do we do that? We got, you know, you have different modalities to come back to presence. So you’re right. Why do we keep doing more when we can’t understand what we currently have? And I’m in total agreement. Another example that God gave me right now as you were speaking was it’s a little different, so follow hopefully you guys can follow me. I was someone that would read scripture to read it, to check off a box, because I didn’t understand it. And in November of 2025, there was three weeks of silence between God and I, which was deafening for me. It was like the most horrible time because I’m not used to that. But when he came back online, he said, I would it would matter if you believed what you currently talk about. I need you to pause for presence, I don’t need you to do anymore. That’s why now I’m I’m guiding high achievers because I used to be one into their higher calling and identity, right? And this is this concept right here. It’s very similar to what you’re explaining, it’s just in a different context, right? That people can like listen to and say, okay, I I am that person, I I want to do more and more and more, but let’s actually pause for presence and look at the AI from 2005 and see how we can actually use it to bring more light to this world instead of trying to create a higher level thing. Is that what you’re saying?

Absolutely.

Okay, so I agree with that. I think um the doing part is not really getting us anywhere, it’s the embodiment. How can we tell me? This is this is what I’m really curious about. Tell me about one of your most rewarding projects through your company. Like, who was it and why was it so rewarding to you of how you presented AI and how you helped them?

I think the most rewarding project right now is working with the Ministry of Education in Belize and being able to use the use AI uh to preserve Belize’s legacy. So what we they have an archive, and we uh configured an AI agent that works like an archivist, it’s called 501 Historian. And now you can ask it and it will give you information about Belize that’s more accurate than you would have on the internet because it has information about people that maybe is not available on Google. Um the second thing is we trained the AI to speak Creole, and you you could tech Mayan. And and so now we’re preserving those languages along with the culture. Because you you don’t have culture if you don’t have language.

True.

I mean we talked about it at the beginning, yeah, like before we even started the podcast. For those listening, I was telling them about how my kids um didn’t really want to continue speaking Spanish until very recently, because it was from my perspective, uh, was the way to connect initially to a culture. So when you you’re in that country, you want to speak their language. And when you speak their language, you actually see them in a different light than if you’re speaking your own language. That’s my my perspective, but I also studied abroad in France, and and so I had more of a worldview of things, perhaps. And then I also have two Mexico-born parents that became US citizens, but um, but we would spend our summers in Mexico City and immersed in different cultures, uh, and the first thing that I saw was language, so I think that’s awesome that you guys are preserving Creole because it’s something that we’re moving away from because of the advent of technology and people just wanting to keep going without really pausing to really what is the word? Like relish and just be in the moment, like be in the what we’re currently living in, and really sucking the juice out of AI, of the current AI that we have, um, so that we can be better human beings. And you mentioned that at the beginning of the podcast. So help us understand how it’s making us be better human beings. Give us an example. I know there was one part in your biography on Podmaj about children. Do you know what I’m talking about? Um like mentors.

Oh, okay, yes. Okay, got it. So let’s think about the people that you know in your life. Think about the ones that are get themselves into uh little t entanglements and do things that maybe you’re like, no, you should probably not do that. And depending on how well you know them, what happened to them to cause them to do that? And usually there’s something happened and they probably Are living a life where they’re they’re not sure that somebody loves them more than they love themselves. Then think about the ones that are, you know, the not the Pollyanas, but the people that are just always positive. It doesn’t matter what happens, you’re just kind of going along. That day’s euphoric happiness, but the yeah, it’s gonna it’s gonna be okay. Yeah, you know, well, somebody crashed into the car, it’s fine, we’ll get it fixed. Carry on kind of person, right? Um and what happened in what happened to them, do they have somebody in their life that believes in them more than they believe in themselves? And so based on that premise, and there’s data points and research to back up that people can overcome whatever adversity is set before them if they have one loving adult that believes in themselves, believe in them more than they believe in themselves. And because of that, we decided we wanted to create a digital mentor for those people that don’t have that luxury and that privilege and want it. Right? So some people don’t realize, and once they realize they’re like, Yeah, thank you. Some people, for whatever reason, doesn’t don’t want it, and we’re not trying to force anything. So now you have this tool and it’s accessing data that’s been properly um that’s been curated and we know makes sense. And it’s clean, you know you can reference it, you can reverse it. And then you have these uh AI agents that are configured to do these tasks to help you with your job. Um maybe it’s to help you, Sylvia, be amplify you, right? So you’re you’re an executive coach, you can only coach for X hours a day, and then you’re not physically capable, even if you wanted to do 24 hours. Now you have additional Sylvia that continues the coaching and reinforcement of what you have said, the way you have said it, the way you want it to be conveyed. And now you’re you’re in a space where the AI is amplifying Sylvia. We’ve already established that Sylvia is a knowledgeable source, we’ve already established that Sylvia has a positive impact in the world, and we’re taking that and we’re packaging it in a way that now 50 million people can have access to Sylvia without any kind of um fidelity issues. We’re packaged in a way that um um people can have access to Sylvia 24-7 without compromising the quality of the interaction. But you’re packaging in a way that still reminds them that you still need to interact with human Sylvia. That’s that’s kind of like what we’re trying to do, and we see that when we do that well, it works. It works, it works.

I love that. Can I just say I have never seen AI like this? So I’m glad I brought you on the podcast because I had these ideas in my head based on really just Google, in all honesty, because it’s how we operate in the world. We don’t have time to dig into companies like yourself unless we get divine, and I do think this is the divine introduction, to be honest with you, um, because multiple times throughout this interview already I’ve felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. So I know that he’s in the room and he’s uh approving of a lot of what you’re saying, and and I’m sure that these are the downloads you receive from him directly, and so because the world is going to continue advancing. We’ve we’re highly capable human beings, we have his power, his love, his self-discipline within us. I mean, he’s told us all this in his in his book, and that’s why it’s important to get into the word because a lot of our truths are in there, and we just have to allow it to pause for presence and actually believe what we’re reading, believe in these concepts, and he created your mind in such a way that the curiosity part of you is what led you into this space you’re in. Do you find this to be your divine calling, or do you think this just one level up and he’s preparing me for something else?

Well, somebody somebody asked me that. Um, what is he preparing me for? I I do I do say that I believe I’m the conduit of the Lord’s love, and now with AI, I can I can amplify that reach. I can only reach so many people one at a time, even if that’s all I did, if I did nothing else but just walk around trying to help people be the best version of themselves. There’s a finite number of people I can do, but if I build AI agents and digital twins, there’s no limit. And and people say, like, why? So I know the people that are listening to your podcasts are people of hate, but if you just like lean into your fate some more, what would the world look like if we all loved ourselves, like really loved ourselves works and all? Like we loved ourselves so much the way God loves us. Now, what what would the world look like if we had people that loved ourselves that much in that way walking around?

It would be like the most amazing, it’d be the closest to heaven we could get, in all honesty, because he is love, right? And so we want to bring heaven onto earth, and when that day, I mean that that’s what we’re aiming for, right? As light warriors, you and I, this is what we do, this is our mission, and yes, there’s a limit to what we can do, like you said. I have five or six podcast interviews as a host, right? Bringing out the light from the people I’m interviewing. That’s one of my gifts, and so I’m positioned perfectly, but there’s only so many I can do a day, and then and then what happens, right? So the digital twin, like when I read, I was like, what is that? So I’m glad you explained what that was in detail because I was like, Well, I’m curious, I’m curious to know. Instead of closing my mind off to the idea, I want to open my mind and see what she has to say. And when you said you were a woman of faith, I thought, how awesome! Because it doesn’t, you don’t sometimes think that. Like the alignment doesn’t, it’s not a very obvious alignment, right? And my mission has always been, I’ve I’ve gotten some several missions that are a little bit tougher than most. Um, he asked me long ago, go get my lost sheep. I’m like, this is gonna be fun. I said, Well, what do you mean by lost sheep? And he’s like, Well, people are are searching for me, but they but they confuse me with like the universe and energy, and you know, and I I want you to share your faith with them and your testimony uh and the relationship you and I have, so that if they see something in you, maybe I can step in there, you know, I’ll step in there and transform. All I need you to do is do that. But sometimes it’s tough because they’re angry with them, right? Or they’re angry with their religion and they confuse religion and God a lot. Um, so that’s been me. So I’m sure your mission at times has been challenging, right? How has he got how have you felt them in that in that journey, Stephanie, and kept going?

I don’t know that I’ve had difficulty because I just kind of follow along. If somebody says I need some help, some coaching, I say, sure, let’s chat. Like um I just had a conversation earlier today with um this guy, he was trying to sell me some services, and I really want to work with him, but I said um what you’re offering is not worth what you’re wanting me to pay because look, I got my AI to do what you gave, which you used an AI as well. I could I mean I can tell if somebody uses an AI or not. Um it’s a little bit harder to tell if we when we use an AI or not because we’re using um um proprietary data. So the AI actually um speaks like it’s us speaking. We’ve given it enough data, we’ve configured it enough ways. And I and I thought I still and so he’s like, Well, you know, I did it this way because that’s what you asked for, and I said that is that is not what I am paying you for. See, I can go to my AI and do the same thing that you did. What I’m paying you for is direction and um content and content expertise. I said I’m missing strategy. I don’t know how to do strategy. If I knew how to do strategy, I wouldn’t need you you need to be able to say to me, Stephanie, I know you’re asking for this, but this is really what you need. And why? So that I say, okay. You cannot be re if you’re a consultant, you cannot be reactive, and in this market, you definitely cannot be reactive because anybody that’s searching for a consultant is also going to the different AI tools and seeing which one can do what they want. And it’s not about being the best anymore, it’s just about good enough. I it’s good enough, and I can I can get I can get to where I want to be. That’s all I that’s all I want, right?

So that that that’s that’s I mean so I think it’s like a discernment piece, which you were discussing. It’s like discerning that’s what came to mind as you were speaking. Discernment of like when you when you have these cases that show up, it’s it’s understanding uh what they’re offering. Is it what you need? And and I I’m with you. I think some people are using AI and then wanting you to pay for what they’ve paid into it. It’s like that’s not I’m asking you for something more, like step into the space to help people. There’s there’s a reason why you stepped into this space to help people. That’s what I’m paying you for. I’m not paying you for what you’ve paid into it or the life that you want to lead. I’ve I’ve caught this a lot in multi-author books. There some of these coaches are wanting these big numbers, it’s not worth that. You know, when you look at coaching, I’m a coach and I know what coaching costs, and it’s not, and what I’ve heard a lot of people say is well, well, I want to have this lifestyle. Well, that’s great for you and all, but that’s not what why you charge people what you charge them, you know?

Yeah, it’s it’s exactly so. But that’s that’s a good takeaway. The takeaway I was trying to convey was the fact that um I took time to coach somebody that I didn’t need to coach. Yeah, and that’s that’s how I how I live my value, and he may or may not take my advice. He said he seems to genuinely have appreciated me taking the time to show him where he failed in convincing me that I should part with my money. Um and and I said, look, I want to work with you, let’s check back in two months. Maybe I’ve evolved, you’ve evolved, and there might be another opportunity at that time. Because I I also like to I like to collect people because I might I might be like, okay, Sylvia, like I totally think we’re connecting, it’s great. We don’t have an opportunity to partner on anything right now. But let’s see. I mean, one person, it it took me 16 years to find something we can partner with, but then when we partnered, it was pure magic. Yeah, like fireworks, like yes, exactly.

You know, I see a lot of alignment between you and I, by the way. Just already because I felt it throughout the interview, and usually when I don’t feel it, is because there is no alignment, it’s just a you know, uh conversation, if you will. But from the moment you started to speak, he made himself known. So I knew. I knew that um I went with what I call the God instinct in my book. A lot of people refer to them as gut instincts. Your initial gut instinct with this person was he needs coaching because you want him to shine, you want him to shine this big bright light, and I don’t think he believed in that light, and you were helping him believe more in that light than in what you know, the other aspect that was coming out of him. Um, and so I think that’s it’s wonderful that you want to share God’s love in that way to help another brother in Christ. I think that’s wonderful. Um, any last words of encouragement you want to leave with us on release outreview purpose? And and if we wanted to work with you, how do we find you?

So the first thing is if you’re really doing God’s work, there should be times in that journey, in that um work that you feel the need to curl up in a fetal position and not get out of bed. Unless you’re unless you get to that and you’ve experienced that, I would push back and say, are you truly doing the Lord’s work? If you want to get in touch with me, Stephanie at avatarbuddy.ai, you can look me up at LinkedIn, avatar uh Stephanie Sylvester, AvatarBuddy. And if you mentioned that you you heard me on this podcast, I’ll happily give you a half an hour consult just because. Because you’re a greedy gal, that’s why. You’re a great girl. I mean we can talk, and we can talk about anything. It doesn’t matter what you want to talk about. It doesn’t have to be AI. I can talk about I feel like I can talk about almost anything. There’s obviously some things I can’t talk about.

You love people anyway, so it doesn’t matter. We can talk about the least, and we can talk about like, hey, I want to travel there. Where should I go? You know? Things like these.

We can talk about socks. Why are all the socks all cool and fancy these days? What was the reason why we socks boring white socks? Remember when we just had boring white socks and red socks?

And now we have talk to us. You know, yeah, exactly.

It identifies us with something. But I’ve been such a joy to have you, uh Stephanie, on the show. I really enjoyed you before and during and after, and thank you for that clarification because I did want you to bring out your values. Um, sometimes my ADHD brain gets ahead of myself, so I do apologize for the listeners if I went a little bit skewed. But um for the rest of the listeners, you know how I usually sign this interview office to remember Matthew 5.14 to be the light, be the light, like Stephanie’s been the light, especially for AI, the advent of AI and what it can do for us to bring out more of our essence, more of our light into the world. And if she and I can do this by bringing the Lord into the mix, so can you. He’s there to to guide us out of darkness if we are in darkness. Uh, if we need someone to just release our doubt too, he’s there as well. And he can help us reframe some of these thoughts that are can be very negative thoughts, and we can just take them captive and make them obedient to him. And when we do that, we are golden. So have a beautiful and blessed rest of your week. Bye now.
